SEVEN HILLS EXTRA SERVICES UNIT

Seven Hills Extra Services Unit is a new 12-bed unit that provides a secure environment for residents suffering with dementia.

Accommodation
Single rooms with ensuites with beautiful views . Secure landscaped external areas, hairdressing salon and hobby areas are just a few of the features of this unit.

Admission Criteria
Persons seeking admission to this unit will need to be deemed as requiring ‘high care’ following assessment by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) and completion of the Aged Care Client Record (ACCR). In addition, the necessary financial arrangements including the payment of a bond is required prior to admission to this unit.

Quality Specialised Service
This unit specialises in the care of dementia residents and adopts a person centred approach in the planning of individual care. We pride ourselves in providing a safe and homelike environment in which our trained staff can assist residents to lead rewarding and satisfying lives. Care given will be flexible and responsive to the individual and their changing needs during the progression of their illness. Our staff aims to work together with family and friends to create a positive caring environment with a focus on the residents capabilities and abilities rather than their deficiencies and losses.

Lifestyle
In addition to fully qualified nursing staff there is a “Lifestyle Co-Ordinator “ who supervises and co-ordinates all non nursing activities within the unit to ensure we are meeting our residents needs. A “Diversional Therapy Co-Ordinator” is providing individual programs for each resident.

Restraint Free Environment
We are committed to a restraint-free environment for our residents and seek the same commitment from the families and Guardians of the residents who live here.

Recognising Changes
We acknowledge that our resident’s needs will be constantly changing and evolving, and in collaboration with the resident, family and significant others our trained staff will plan, review and evaluate care interventions on a regular basis.

Ensuring safety
In the interest of the safety of our resident community we do not admit persons to this unit who have a history of physical aggression.
